La tourbière de Rebière-Nègre a été la dernière du Limousin à faire l'objet d'une exploitation industrielle de la tourbe jusqu'au milieu des années 1990. Puis un étang communal de loisirs et de pêche a ensuite été aménagé à son emplacement. Enfin, en 2019 ce dernier a été effacer pour rendre à la Vienne son lit d'origine.
