The only kibbutz that existed in France was set up between 1933 and 1935 in a farm in the village of Jugeals-Nazareth. The Tourmente River rises near Montplaisir at an altitude of 370 metres. After 26 km, it flows into the Dordogne. The Montplaisir tunnel is 2,397 metres long and 100 metres deep, and its construction was problematic because of the many springs along its route.
