The Gorges of Haute-Dordogne

We are at Roche le Peyroux, near the sumptuous Saint-Nazaire site , a grandiose viewpoint and the Gregeolles belvedere , just as magical. Here the Dordogne is a wild paradise, a calm and agile river which winds between the cliffs of the landscape and the confluence with the Diège. Just opposite is Cantal, we are in bordering lands! The Dordogne Gorges are located between Bort-les-Orgues and Argentat, but here they are steeper and easier to understand.

Smile Kayak is the only canoe base in the area and they are set up in a remarkable location. A change of scenery is guaranteed ! On site, everything you need to have an extraordinary time, come on a beautiful day to have your eyes full! We weren't going canoeing, but the sign caught our attention from the road, after discovering the lookout: “What? Can we sail in this paradise? » . Here we are after a descent on a winding road which plunges towards the waters. Smiles and good humor from the team, who will advise you according to your level and the composition of your tribe for top equipment; No need to be an expert canoeist; Nothing technical on this course, you just need arms to paddle.

In season, games are organized to spice up the trip on the water, like a treasure hunt. Sometimes there are even “ concerts on the water ”. In addition to canoes and kayaks (the difference is the position in the boat, in a kayak you are more stuck in your boat) you can rent pedal boats or paddles. Days with BBQ are possible, everything is organized, you just need to book in advance.

Remember to come with closed shoes and a backpack with a towel to store your belongings in. Cap or hat, sunglasses and swimsuit are essential in the height of summer! Sunscreen for children…

• Go to Lac de la Triouzoune , you will have a good time there, swim, enjoy other water activities on the lake or simply relax. Don't pass the Puy de Manzagol to benefit from a superb panorama.
• You are not far from the interesting town of Bort –les-Orgues . You can go for a hike there to see the Orgues rock formation, which gave its name to the town. Curious ! You can also go to the Château de Val , a very pleasant site to enjoy another watering hole on the banks of the Dordogne. The Belvedere of the Site de la Vie is a nice little-known place for a nap or a picnic!
